? Woof Woof Wednesday

? ? ? ? Happy 4th of July! ? ? ? ?

Hi y’all.

The 4th of July is always such a fun day to celebrate with family and friends and most of us always include our furry four-legged family members and we should!

Do you still enjoy watching the fireworks ……. no matter how old we get it seems to always be one of the activities that we can’t miss!

Did you know that a dog’s hearing is 10 times more sensitive than a human’s…….

Fireworks usually will cause some anxiety, stress and yes even fear in our dogs. So be a responsible dog owner and do everything you can to protect your furry family members. For most of us fireworks happen only twice a year so our little guys do not have the chance to get use to all the loud bangs and pops of fireworks. Here are some helpful tips …….

  • If you are going out to watch the fireworks, it is best to leave your dog at home. If he is crate trained, put him in his crate with a favorite toy.
  • When you leave your dog home alone, leave the tv on or put the music on, something to drown out firework noise in the area. And if you can see the lights or flashes from your place, close the curtains and leave the lights on.
  • If you are staying home be sure to keep your dog near you so you can monitor and calm him from the noise and activities that may be close by.

It’s not a good idea to put your dog in the back yard even a fenced-end back yard. Dogs are likely to become little ‘escape artist’ during stressful times and will find a way to get out. (another reason to be sure your dog is micro-chipped)

The 4th of July is always such a fun time and a great day to celebrate with family and friends. Oh my …… all the food and drinks. Of course I have a few recipes to share in the next day or two, yum yum!

Wishing you a wonderful Woof Woof Wednesday from me and Riley!
