Woof Woof, it’s Happy Dogtober!

Halloween will be here soon …..

Oh yeah, lots of orange around here!

Here are some of my favorite tips to keep your furry 4-legged family members safe and stress-free.

Candy, especially chocolate can be very dangerous for dogs. If they get into the candy, call your vet or your ASPCA poison center, (888-426-4435).

Candy wrappers and party supplies are dangerous as well if swallowed, keep them well out of reach.

Even those decorative pumpkins (which may not be toxic) but can lead to an upset stomach.

Be sure electrical cords and wires are out of reach. We all love our decorations around the house, keep your pet involved by using pet-friendly ornaments and plush toys.

Invest in brightly colored costumes, safety vests so your pets can be seen. (Be sure they wear their ID tags)

And about costumes, they can be an unnecessary source of stress and anxiety for your pets. One trick people use to get them use to the costume, is calming treats and have them wear it several days prior to Halloween to get use to it.(The costumes are more for the grownups, so be sure you know your pet) Make sure it’s comfortable for them.

If possible you may want to keep your dog or cat in a separate room so they are away from the noise and chaos  of the trick-or-treat goblins who come to your door.

Halloween is always a special time.

We wish you a very happy and safe Halloween! BOO Y’all!
