Countdown
Oh there can be so many reasons for countdown. And today, ours is for the winter blast that is about to be at our doorstep by morning.
I remind myself to stay positive because it’s not predicted to last long. I got a bucket of salt in the garage because of course we must go outside if only a few feet away.
This will be Eddie’s first sight of winter precipitation and TBT, I hope it’s the last one for us this year!
Oh I remember bringing Riley home in December and within a couple of weeks we had a major snow event. The clumps of snow attached to his little paws were ginormous for being outside only a few minutes. Riley was only a few weeks old, so going outside was a more frequent event.

Well I might just have to pull out my new umbrella!
The power and internet companies have already posted warnings about outages and let’s just hope none occur.
We have no plans of driving anywhere for the next few days, so warm and cosy is our OOTD.
Thankfully, I have prepared us with plenty of yummy winter food, water, candles, warm clothes and plenty of blankies.
The city usually takes a positive position and have started working on roads and asking people to stay home instead of going out in it. I know this can be frustrating and difficult for those that have jobs that require them to go to work no matter what. Oh, I remember days of taking literally over 3-4 hours to get to the office. Oh to be young and foolish. As the years went on, I did not do such foolishness. Oh I remember staying in a hotel by the office a few times but I was shuttled back and forth and at the time did not any pets to take care of.
Now, I get to remain home. I do pray for all that must be out in it.

I am filled with so much peace knowing that I am taking care of Eddie and myself and will never take advantage of the so many blessings we have been graced with.

Instead, I try to think about my snow globes and how the snow swirls around and brings magic inside their world.
I remember childhood memories when I couldn’t wait to go outside and play in the snow. Many times I was only outside for short stretches and sometimes for all afternoon play time. It didn’t matter, my momma was always there with open arms, hot chocolate and sometimes having to dry our snowsuits multiple times a day so we could return to the snowy cold yards just to do it all over again and again!
❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️
Now I might need a little reminding as the day and weather progresses on but my prayers have been said. I remind myself that we must have Winter to have Spring. Sometimes I find myself repeating it, as we are out for our January walks. It’s my mantra.
Oh but I do love hearing the little birds duck in and out of the hedges as we are walking. Eddie is not bothered or tries to chase them anymore. Their sweet songs are the only noise we typically hear.
So we can’t stop winter or spring, nor summer and fall from happening …… but we can certainly make our contribution and connections to them. They are most definitely gifts from the universe.
So tonight as Eddie and I fall asleep in one kind of world, we will wake up to another quite different.
❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️
And I will continue to thank God for another nite of peaceful slumber only to rise to a magnificent day of beauty and joy.
Let the Countdown begin!
