Good morning y’all!

Tomorrow is Veterans Day! So I wanted to dedicated todays blog to all who answered to a service call, young and old, brave and bold, currently serving or those who have served.

Here’s a little Veteran Day history.

Veterans  Day, November 11 use to be just another November day until November 11, 1918, when Germany and the Allied Powers ended hostility. Now the Treaty of Versailles was not officially signed until June 1919 ending World War I.

Our President,  Woodrow Wilson declared November 11, 1919  the first Armistice Day. (The idea was meant to recognize the day fighting had ended) In 1938 many Veteran advocates asked Congress to amend the act of 1938 and change the name. So in 1954 Armistice Day, became Veterans Day, and is our holiday to honor all veterans of wars.

Some of you may remember that Veterans Day use to be recognized on a Monday but in 1975 the president,  Gerald R. Ford returned the day to always recognize Veterans Day on the November 11, no matter what day of the week it falls on.

All across communities,  companies honor our veterans by providing free and discounted services. I wanted to share some of these companies, check out what your area has and please verify dates, participation and availability.
