Oh Sunday Serenity

Oh Sunday Serenity

There is something special about Sundays. Heck even when I get to enjoy every day in retirement, Sundays remain one of my favorites.  Probably even more so, since retirement.
And in this fast ‘connected’ world I am happy that on Sundays I can attend church service in person or on-line.
Bet you can guess which one I chose today.
Oh Sunday Serenity
When the world just outside my back door is still sleeping and the blooms of the day pop up, their is a sense of serenity that takes my breath away.
The solitude that I experience is filled with a sense of peace and joy. It’s in this solitude where I find my balance. It’s this solitude that brings out my creativity. And inspires me to build my inner strength and growth.
Whoa, all of this while sitting quietly.
It’s magical, for sure.
Many people get solitude and loneliness confused. Solitude is not about avoiding other people …… it’s about being by yourself. It’s about being alone without being lonely. It allows me the ability to become a better observer of my life. I believe my mind becomes sharper and more alert in solitude. And it makes socializing even more enjoyable.
And we all get to choose. For some, being by one self is not their idea of serenity. You can decide what is normal for you.
Of course some may say, I have never been normal …… and I am quite happy with that!

Dear God, thank you for surrounding me today in the silence of your love. You fill my heart and mind. Amen.
