Texas in Spring!
Texas in Spring!

Hi y’all!

Oh my the Texas bluebonnets usually bloom from the end of March to early May ….. get ready to take some pictures!

According to local KERA news, up to 100,000 people visit Ennis, the Official Texas bluebonnet Trail each year to take pictures and see up to 40 miles of wildflowers along the roads………..(Be mindful when taking pictures, bluebonnets are poisonous if ingested)

If you’re in the area, Chappell Hill is the proud hosts of the Official State of Texas bluebonnet festival each year …….

52nd Annual bluebonnet Festival

April 9 & 10, 2016

9 – 6 Saturday,  10 – 5 Sunday

Did you know …….seeds may sprout year after year after they are planted,  provide they have had enough rain……… (plant them in September and October)

Do you know the lyrics to our Texas song about bluebonnets …… well enjoy…

Lyrics

When the pastures are green in the springtime,

And the birds are singing their sonnets,

You may look to the hills and the valleys

And they are covered with lovely bluebonnets.

Blue is the emblem of loyalty,

They’re as blue as the deep, deep-sea,

Their smiling faces bring gladness,

For they bloom for you and me.

bluebonnets, so gorgeous and stately,

In your mantle of blue and green,

In the spring when your are in your full glory,

You’re the loveliest sight ever seen.

You’re beautiful when you sway in the sunshine,

You look like waves of the sea,

Ah, Texas was in her choice of a flower,

So we offer our homage to thee.

(Chorus)

bluebonnets, blue lovely bluebonnets,

More beautiful than all the rest,

Texas chose you for her flower,

And we love you best, bluebonnets.

As your travels take you down the many highways in Texas during springtime you will no doubt see these beauties, sometimes in pink and white but the most favorite of mine of course is the original blue.          bluebonnet-733360__180

So many of you might be saying ……… what is the big deal about your Texas bluebonnets ……….. well,  from well know historian Jack Maquire, ‘the bluebonnet is to Texas what the shamrock is to Ireland, the cherry blossom to Japan, the lily to France, the rose of England and the tulip of Holland’.

So if you are lucky enough to live here …….

Or visit us this spring ….. I hope you get a chance to see our beautiful Texas bluebonnets, y’all!

Texas in Spring!
Texas in Spring!

Riley and I wish you a beautiful day full of springtime love and kindness and of course we would love to hear from y’all, woof woof! ??
