It’s Thankful Thursday Night, y’all!
Thursday has become one of my favorite days and it goes all the way into the night. Most of us find comfort in creating certain routines, well at least I sure do!
And Thursday has become a day that I love to do certain house-cleaning projects. It has become the day that I skip the gym (my creaky knees thank me)!
Yep, I am that person who tends to organize and pickup everyday …… it’s just the way I am …… you know the kind …… we just love keeping a tidy home. Well this ‘homebody’ does!
Honesty, I feel so grateful for everything in my life. And why not show God how much I appreciate his love, blessings and gifts. Yep, by taking care of the things I am surrounded by.
You heard me say it before …… it does not matter the size or location of your home and I do not believe God loves you less if you struggle creating a tidiness routine. However, for me …… a tidy home is a less stressful and distracting environment. I find joy and true inner peace in order.
Because life happens …… nothing is 100% predictable. The only certain thing in this uncertain life is God.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. (Hebrews 13:8)
There was a time when I use to think that a tidy home was a sign of trying to be a perfectionist. Well, thank goodness, we get older and gain wisdom. My home is my haven. Not because of the things in it, because of what I do in it.
For me, a messy home creates chaos and stress. Why do that to yourself or your love ones. Please don’t picture me spending hours and hours scrubbing all the nooks and crannies every single day. I don’t believe exhausting yourself makes for a joyful home, but I do believe it takes effort. That’s why I practice tidiness every day. Nothing piles up …… and guess what …….
It brings joy and mostly inner-peace to my home.
Peace doesn’t just happen. We must be proactive in pursuing it. (1 Peter 3:11)
I light candles. Not just because they smell good, but that is definitely one of the benefits …… I light candles as a sign of love and inner-peace. They remind me that my heart is anchored, in Jesus Christ. They are gifts and it’s a way I give my home a hug!
A Christ-centered home is marked by joy.
Joy is not happiness. Happiness is topical. Joy is a strong underlying current of contentment and thankfulness that comes by trusting the Lord when all is not well in life.
Joy is that quiet rest that radiates on our faces even in the midst of trial. It is a warmth that bounces off the walls and runs rampant through a home that loves what is good in the eyes of the Father.
I practice time-management, I remain patient in this season of my life, I pray daily and I love maintaining a tidy home with a smile. (Music helps too!)
It’s Thursday night, good football, a little wine and you guessed it …… candles are burning!
It’s Thankful Thursday Night y’all!
Light the candle!
Blessings from our home to yours.
