So as I sat in Sunday services this past weekend, we were reminded that this year will be the year to embrace our Pioneer spirit.
Oh, I have to admit, there was an overwhelming quiet the first week, yet this week as I and many others had time to really think about it, it reminds me of the deep rhythm that resonates in me.
We were asked if we are settlers or pioneers and given the choice, what do you want for your life.
Some see life as a possession that needs to be guarded (settlers) yet others see life as a truly loving gift full of spirited adventures (pioneers).
Do you think of Jesus as the enforcer of the rules and the provider of security (settlers) or, do you believe He has lived all the trials and hardship and given up his life for those who follow, can do so in safety (pioneers).
Some may see God as being in-office, predictable and feared (settlers) yet some will see God full of life who eats and sleeps with his (pioneers).
A pioneer will takes risks and dares. As we were reminded many of us are already pioneers, maybe you are the first to graduate from college in your family, the first to start a business, the first to move to a new city.
I know we often think of the Wild West, (myself included) when we think of the word Pioneers, yet many other thoughts come to mind as well; front-runner, spearhead, innovator, make the first move, never settle. And come to think of it, the Wild West is not a negative way of looking at why I want to be a Pioneer vs Settler.
I hope I always stay hungry for a life full of new adventures and a pioneer spirit always in my heart. It’s funny the older I get, the more Wild West I want to be, teehee! (I’ll be the one wearing heels till I die)
You have circled this mountain enough, now turn north, (Deuteronomy 2:3).
