Hi y’all,
And yes ….. it is cold even here in Texas. After all it is winter ……. ❄️❄️
So as we all hunker down for the rest of the winter season, I thought I would share some tips that have always worked for me to stay warm and toasty during the coldest months of winter.
Around the house
- Switch the direction of your ceiling fan so that it rotates clockwise in the winter, (this draws up the cold air and pushes down the warm air).
- Program your thermostat, cooler when the house is empty and at bedtime, warmer when you return from work.
- Cooking at home will not only warm you up from the inside it also heats up the house from the oven or stove top use. Leave the oven door open after you are through so the heat circulates in the kitchen area afterwards.
- Hot soups, stews are the best this time of year.
- Light a fire in your fireplace or wood burning stove!
- Close drapes/shades on windows at night. In the morning open them to let the sun in!
- Wear slippers, socks, dress in layers.
- Cozy up with your partner or furry friend and see how fast you warm up! ??
- Use those extra blankets/throws while lounging on the couch.
- Candles may not warm up a room but do add a bit of warmth to the room.
In the bedroom
- If you have not ever tried flannel sheets ….. you must ….. they are so warm and toasty.
- Wearing socks to bed ….. for some reason mine always end up at the end of the bed or on the floor by morning ….. go figure.
- Go for a brisk walk before bedtime ….Riley loves this one ….. and, it is a sure-fire way to get the blood flowing.
- Wear thermal leggings or pajamas …..cozy, cozy, cozy.
- I love some hot decaf herbal tea with a little honey before bedtime.☕️ (okay well I may have a cookie or two as well)
- Hot cocoa is another favorite!
- Adding a humidifier to the room will increase the temperature.
- I love taking a hot bath or shower before bedtime, warms you up and relieves soreness or stiffness immediately. ??
- Having sex is another way to get the blood flowing and really warms your toes and your soul!
So I hope you are able to embrace this winter season …… make a special Let’s Stay Home Tonight and
- Drink lots of tea and hot cocoa
- Wear sweaters, hoodies, sweats and warm boots (couldn’t live without my Uggs)
- Cuddle up with someone special wrapped in a blanket and watch movies
- Wear those fuzzy warm socks and read a new book
A friend of mine just told me that the most favorite thing about winter she loves is ….. when it is over ……Ha!
Now go out and make it a great Tuesday and make plans for a Warm & Toasty Tuesday!
Riley and I send you love and kindness.
We’d love to hear from y’all, Woof Woof! ??
